Les is a saxophonist at heart. He is equally comfortable with the piano and keyboard. As a child, he studied piano day in and day out, rain or shine. As he grew, so did his talent. While in high school he played in clubs around Detroit with many well-known artists as they made their way touring through the Motor City. After high school Les moved from Detroit to Los Angeles, where things started to come together musically. He teamed up with his brother-in-law Brian Holland from the legendary song writing team Holland-Dozier-Holland, and quickly became a regular studio artist for A&M Records and Sony Music, working along side the head of A&M, Herb Albert, gaining his accolades. Les soon began producing many artists and through the years has produced Earth, Wind and Fire, Patti LaBelle, Steve Perry of Journey and Janet Jackson, to name a few. As the record industry changed, so did Les’ career. He began composing music for television. He continues to have two of the most well known themes on television at this time; Tyra Banks America’s Next Top Model and The Jimmy Kimmel Show. Les enjoys composing for television but his heart is in orchestration for movies. Over the years he has had songs in many movies and Les finds that independent films allow him the freedom and challenge to create a depth of emotion and majestic expression that takes the viewer beyond imagination.
